Teenage Trumbull Woman Charged In Fatal Hit-Run Shelton Crash

A Fairfield County woman has been charged with felony evading responsibility for allegedly hitting and killing a woman and then fleeing the area.

Ariela Treysler, age 19, was charged on Thursday, Jan. 25, in connection with the Saturday, Jan. 6 crash in Shelton that killed Stephanie Peterson, age 64, town unknown.

According to Det. Richard Bango of the Shelton Police Department, officers found Peterson lying in the roadway when they arrived. She later died at Bridgeport Hospital from her injuries.

An investigation by Shelton detectives and the Accident Reconstruction Team revealed that Peterson was struck by a vehicle that evaded the scene, Bango said.

During the investigation, the operator of the vehicle was identified as Treysler, who is a Trumbull resident.

She was charged with felony evading responsibility and released on a $50,000 bond.
